Trinkets are used passively, gaining extra buffs, Status Effects, and extra resistances during combat and throughout gameplay as long as they are equipped. Your total baubles are shown by the triangle-like symbol in inventory. All bauble types are worth the same, but take up different space in your inventory. Baubles come in different forms for each region. Baubles: BAUBLES are used only to purchase TRINKETS.Hope is gained through travel distances, Triumphant Combat encounters and battles, Objectives cleared, Shrines visited and some occasional extra XP for doing extra tasks and completing more Profile Level: Profile level and rank is increased by earning more XP known as Hope.The only way to unlock more Trinkets through rewards is by increasing the Profile level of the player. There is no specific order or fixed locations to look in when obtaining specific trinkets as they are obtained randomly. Other times they can be purchased from Merchants, or when you are rewarded for winning against enemy encounters. Trinkets are obtained as rewards for completing a run when meeting specific goals during the expedition such as when given the task to avoid the Hospital or keeping the flame of the Stagecoach at a certain number. It was tense as hell having to fight this monstrosity with a guy on death's door for like a third of the fight.In Darkest Dungeon 2, Trinkets can be obtained in a few different ways. He opened up with a massive crit and put my poor Flag on deaths door right off the bat. Hats off to the developers for a job well done.
The boss battles in this dungeon are pretty damn epic. It is a grueling marathon of a dungeon that is about 5 times longer than a normal long dungeon and there are several "mini" bosses along the way that are as strong as a normal boss would be. Just a word of advice for those planning to do the Baron, go in armed to the teeth with your best and brightest if you are planning to do it in one shot. Hopefully this topic will help others in the same situation. I went in assuming they didn't and I can certainly confirm that face tanking those traps is brutal and enemies certainly can be surprised. So I got impatient and stormed into the Baron's dungeon before all you kind and informative people left me posts telling me that scouting trinkets do in fact matter.
